Small UK VPS in different locations

NekkiNekki Veteran
edited June 2017 in Requests

Morning, cunts.

I'm looking for a number of 'small' VPS in the UK. I have low requirements in terms of resource, but I am looking for diversity in the locations within the UK. I am particularly interested in locations north of Watford Gap.

Minimum requirements

RAM: 64MB

HDD: 5GB (SSD not necessary)

Data transfer: 500GB, or 250GB if incoming is free

Bandwidth: 100Mb/s

Virtualisation: No preference

I already have VPS in the following locations, so don't require offers located in the following:

Only interested in offers/recommendations from providers in business for at least 2 years.

Definitely not interested in any locations outside of the UK. I don't give a shit that the latency over to OVH is lower. I want what I want, you loud-mouthed little prick. Yeah, that's what I thought. Fuck you. No, fuck YOU. Cunt.

Arsehole.

What about Clouvider at Telehouse North 2 - I know at least one host that's preparing to open this location soon :-)

    Yeah, Docklands works for me.

    Yeah, Docklands works for me.

I'll reach out to them and pass the lead. Thanks!

Off the top of my head we have @vmhaus in London Zare @piohost in Bristol Zare

    There is virtual6.net in Sheffield

    LoveServers (@jack) in IoMart Manchester

    The Wigan DC NorthHosts.

Other than that that's all I can think of today.

(I know not all meet the 2yr but I'd recommend all but the Wigan location)

    Budget?

I've no hard price limit in mind for the individual plans. I guess I'm not expecting anything to cost much more than £5 a month inc VAT (given my meagre resource requirements), but if there's a particularly funky uncommon UK location on offer then I'm not adverse to paying more.

Something bothers me about @vmhaus, but I'll take a look. Not sure which London DC they're in (assuming it's not actually Kent).

@Piohost are too new for me,

Virtual6 I'm wary of due to past history, but they have been around a while now.

Well reminded on @jack, I've been meaning to get one of his yearly plans for a while now.

Been steering clear of NorthHosts since the insane price hikes, waiting for them to settle down and get clear of whatever financial hurdles they've been experiencing.

I use all of them except NorthHosts (now Piohost has left the mill)

Piohost is a decent machine costs me £9/yr and it's ideal for a little VPN or its currently used in a anycast web server. It's had a few hardware upgrades recently and the service is extremely stable.

VMHaus has been incredible for me. I'm on the $15/yr UK & FR NVMe and it's insanely fast and I really enjoy it. I know he is new but after quite a few of us have spoke to him I'd definitely give him a trial maybe on the $2.70/month machine could be worth a shot.

Virtual6 yeah I am aware of the past but Virtual6 is perfect for me. It's 100Mbit unmetered and I can max my connection over it. Uplinks include Virgin Media (perfect for my incoming VPN traffic) and level 3 + Vaioni which are the default route for outbound allowing me to exit the Virgin network ASAP. Service is solid and I'd again try it out.

LoveServers works not much else to it really spent a fair bit of time on support due to SolusVMs weird IPv6 config and some issues with BGP sessions. Other than that it is a rock solid machine I'd use any day.

NorthHosts yeah I agree let's steer clear there.

Appreciate the offer, but there's no need for a trial. I'll check out your site unless you've got some kind of custom/special offer.

They are pretty new still but I've had a good experience with them (signed up on 24th January). Might be worth giving them a try.

Test IP points to Zare ASN, single homed via bandwidth technologies as per the routing table.

Ill be very honest with you, yes our UK NVMe VPS services are hosted with Zare and we have no issues with that.

Thank you for the recommendation and the kind words, I'm happy that you're happy.

We, or should I say I, do have history (Who doesn't) but we're still here plodding along quietly trying to rectify my/our past and regain trust with the public.

I would like to point out for those that don't know that we have never deadpooled or taken customers money etc, but I have ran and sold several other brands which didn't go down well with some.

I'm in a much different position now, both in terms of my full time employment and the fact we now own hardware, employ staff etc and are not just a cookie cutter one man hosting company.

    @Nekki

Happy to put something special together for a long term LET member as special as you, let me know if you're bothered :)

That's on our great MPLS-TE, Juniper based network (MX480, MX240, MX104- TRIO Chipset based fabric) with geographically dispersed routing sites across London. See http://bgp.he.net/AS62240. We transit with Level3, NTT, GTT, Telia, Cogent, have a premium private peering to Liberty Global EU Networks (Virgin Media included) and peer with likes of BT, Sky UK, TalkTalk, AA ISP and others via LINX.

Honestly I can +1 for @vmhaus, the NVMe's make it a really nice box & he sorted me out with a bgp session FoC.

And VMHaus is amazing - specially for the price :-D

Okay, fair enough. What I meant is that the offer doesn't appear on the front page of http://vmhaus.com/ , but you're right that it's easy enough to find.

    Agreed.

I also find a provider endorsing it's customers strange. I get Dom is been a good sport, but can you really recommend somebody purely based on the fact they rent hardware on your infrastructure, having no experience (Assumption) with their services directly.

That backed by Dom defending QuadHost through the shit has always backed my thoughts on this and the issues over IP space which we won't get into.
