Ukraine implementing censorship of Russian websites

    This will affect about 40+ million people. That's almost 1/3 of the population of Russia. Sure it's easy to bypass - but the vast majority are not students using VPNs.

    With a service that is transparent, a price that is clearly marked, via a mechanism that's actually legal, in a market that is free . . .

    Actually 50 grv for this is pretty cheap! It's really more like a public service at that price...

    $2 for technical support is a steal in any economy!

    Imagine what would happen if someone setup a booth like this in Russia or China!

    So today, one of my ISP has hijacked all the networks of vk.com, they now redirect all the http traffic to their web server with a shitty page that says basically, "It's ok, censorship is great, you can create a gmail.com account and register on facebook.com"

    Earlier they also tried to do the same with yandex.ru/ua but it broke their website as they rely heavily on it.

    But sorry, this is true, a lot of information at wikipedia falsified and not verified at all, a lot of data wrong, and wikipedia can't be a source of some short information, nothing has been changed even with wiki, if you wish to learn something new or read about something - books is the best friend, and many different books.

    But sorry, this is true, a lot of information in books is falsified and not verified at all, a lot of data is wrong, and just by printing something onto a piece of paper doesn't make it true. Anyone can print a book. Governmental, ideological, clerical, corporational propaganda is dispensed in this way over many centuries. In this day and age it is even easier; you have print-on-demand and self-publishing ebook platforms to turn into a book any kind of nonsense, falsehood or demagogy you desire.

    What you see as Wikipedia's weakness - it's openness to input, is the necessary part of the system that potentially makes it's aspiration to truth possible and doable. The only confirmed rational path to deriving truth is the scientific method. Scientific method relies on peer-reviewing to validate or invalidate it's findings. Wikipedia allows for this mechanism to function in a transparent and responsible way, more so than during preparation of a book during it's publishing. Quality of it's content and peer-review is dependent on topic's gravitas and people who contribute to it. Same applies to scientific papers and books.

    Reading many different books is a wonderful suggestion. Pursuing knowledge, thinking critically, testing assumptions, checking facts and adjusting your beliefs according to sufficient evidence is your best friend. If you practice this framework you will appreciate many sources of information like books, Wikipedia, forums, academia, and judge their quality and validity accordingly and without prejudice to source, i.e. not falling for a fallacy of origins.

    Encyclopedia Dramatica is the one and only source of truth.

    Actually as long as you had a municipal business license and paid tax it wouldn't be a problem...

    Where I live in Canada, nobody would care. And there is no business license even available in this area. You are "supposed" to declare income, but if this is not generating over $30,000 per year as separate from your personal income you don't need to register for tax. (Canada Revenue link)

    @Yura you nailed it.

    With Wikipedia, the decent thing is they demand sources - Look into them, and make up your own mind on whether those sources are absolute garbage or not.

    Everything is subjective.
