Is Leaseweb the best routed EU provider from upper east coast US?

I'm curious what other people's experiences are for most consistent and fastest routing/speeds from the upper east coast (NY basically). The servers I test get more or less superb routing to Leaseweb any time of day (range 25-50MB/s). So far LeaseWeb is #1 in my testing (via AMS-01) but I have only tested a very small sample of EU providers in different DCs. Hetzner seems equal or possibly slightly better but I haven't done much testing there yet.

I would have imagined something in the UK would be better, could be wrong, perhaps clouvider or softlayer.

You should also look at i3d, they apparantly have some pretty decent peerings.

I get great speeds with my Kimsufi in Roubaix. I'm in Baltimore . I didn't have a very good connection with Hetzner

    Thanks Anthony =).

@Xei if you'd like to test our network please let me know, happy to send you some test files.

Might wanna double-check those. lg3 has some weird title, while lg1 doesn't load at all.

It's easier if you all post your speed test results since I am curious about the traffic flow TO EU. :P

    http://speedtest-nyc2.digitalocean.com/100mb.test
    http://speedtest-nyc3.digitalocean.com/100mb.test

    Thanks.

Btw @AnthonySmith a friend of mine did have a fresh server at Inception NL but speeds were very slow. No idea why, tested at various times of day for at least 48 hours or so. With Leaseweb I have guaranteed throughput any time of day thus far which is why I find it impossibly hard to stray. My random time of day tests with Hetzner are usually 25MB/s at the slowest as well so I am leaning towards picking one up maybe.

@Clouvider Perhaps you can wget those files and share result?

Yeah, but I want at least a GBIT port, all Kimsufi lines are limited to 100mbit from what I remember. I agree the network is good, I always get max speed.

Just did a test from i3d and clouvider using the 1GB Vultr NJ file.

From i3d avg is around 200 mbit, latency around 100ms

From clouvider around 300 mbit, latency around 70ms

So it sounds like neither offers better routing than LeaseWeb to upper east coast if you're getting 500 mbit.

Thank you! I appreciate it, that is a big help!

Interestingly I just did a speed test from another east coast server and only got 500mbit, wonder if it's actually an issue at choopa, the speedtestest servers do get hammered i guess.

I realize I misspoke! To LW, I get ~300mbit a thread. But because I use lftp for my sync operations, the the 300-500mbit, and rare 600mbit speeds happen but it's multi-threaded (I totally didn't think of that). That means, Cloudvider is roughly the same speed as LW then. It's good to know there are other options aside Leaseweb such as Cloudvider or Hetzner. Plan on picking one up soonish.

Just did a test from iwstack, getting about the same there too, might be an option.

Hetzner has pretty "meh" performance to pretty much anywhere both inside and outside the EU. I recently cancelled my server with them and moved to SoYouStart in France due to their upload being lousy to my servers in both the EU & US let alone my home connection.

Hetzner has some damn good deals, but their network pretty well sucks from my first hand experience.

I have tested many EU providers for latency to USA as I run game servers. Jump UK (http://www.jump.net.uk/), Tagadab Cloud (https://www.tagadab.com/cloud/), and CenturyLink Cloud's GB3 location (https://www.ctl.io/) are the best I have found. However, I haven't really done any speed testing for these as bandwidth isn't cheap, so I haven't considered these for anything needing much data transfer. So not sure these providers would do much good for you either depending on what you are trying to do. If any of these would be within your budget I can try testing speeds and give you more info.

I usually use Digital Ocean for file downloads as their speeds are excellent in my experience, even if latency isn't as good as those listed above.

I did test Hetzner back when I made the thread. Totally agree with you. Their network is not well routed/peered. Consistency varies depending on the DC you are in as well it seems after talking to some friends (as well as my own tests. 1 dedi/1 vps diff dcs).
