Switch Question

I have a cisco 3650G switch which supports 1G network, can I use a 10G SFP Module in the switch will it still work even if the switch only support 1G. I not asking will it actually use 10G network I'm asking will it work up to 1G as will the module work?

So basically Cogent Downlink to my switch is 1G/10G 90th percentile its an LC fiber downlink directly to my Cisco 3650G switch I have a CISCO SFP-10G-LR SFP will I be able to use that SFP on my switch has anyone had this issue before is it doable.

I'm questioning this because I spent about $99 on the module and I cant find any 1G modules except for from China which will take 2-3 weeks to get to me.
