Backing up FTP servers

I have several shared hosting accounts with FTP and 1 VPS, would there be software that would allow the VPS server to connect > take incremental backups of the several FTP servers > compress them.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: Looks like I can do what I want with LFTP and tar in a script.
