Backup software
Hi folks,
I'd like to know, which backup software you use.
I'm currently at the point, where I'd like to setup a new backup server.
I have some VPS as well as some dedicated systems, talking about approx
10 hosts (maybe 1 - 3 more, getting more from time to time)
Please give me some pro / con of your software :-)
Thanks in advance

For VM's Proxmox's built in backup + archive into Borg
For my desktop, ARQ
rsnapshot for me!
duply
@mridul : be careful when using any 'sync' as backup. backups should be immutable.
sweet. I'll try this soon.
de-duped blocks should be effective for VM backup.
Yep since proxmox generates the gz archives with rsyncable set so it works really well.
The --chunker-params 10,23,16,4095 argument to borg usually works well with proxmox .gz backups.
This is going back to about December, weekly VM dumps, I'll prob clean up some of the older stuff.
Using rsnapshot from now on, thanks guys.
Now what I really want is something with the de-duplication from borg, cross platform and has a central management console.
Needs to be cheap/free as well.
@dragon2611, can you go over implementation details of tying up borg with proxmox? Do you use borgmatic too?
My carpe diem would be borg dedup and encryption with minio S3 backend and web interface.
I only have a couple hosts so tend to login and archive the weekly dump into borg manually at the moment, I really need to get around to automating that part of my backups.
