Best way to complain to host about speed?

wilbowilbo Member

I have a dedicated server that has a slow connection. How do I lay it out for the host that the server is slow and here are the numbers? I want to be able to say more than " Dude, my server's slow. Fix it please." There are a lot of hosts here, what would you want to see on the ticket?

Comments

  • maybe some speed tests and traceroutes.

  • BradyHBradyH Member, Host Rep

Just open up a support ticket and as are you having any connection issues? My server is set up for xx and I am getting this. Wanted to find out if it was just me or a network issue.

Nice way to go about it

  • sinsin Member

How slow is the network connection? You can do IPERF tests, speed tests, and an mtr from your server to your connection and from your connection to your server if there's any connectivity issues too.

The server is at Soyoustart in BHS. I have seen others mention their server there was slow, but better since they put in a ticket.

Opening an indignant LET thread is a popular method.

BTW @wilbo I am strangely drawn to your avatar. It has a wild west kid's show kind of vibe . Your avatar makes me want it to be summer.

@wilbo what is the advertised speed you are supposed to be getting as to me that looks like a 1Gbps port

  • wilbowilbo Member

    250 Mbps guaranteed bandwidth

  • IshaqIshaq Member

Are you perhaps misunderstanding the difference between Megabyte and Megabit?

Probably. I copied and pasted the "250 Mbps guaranteed bandwidth" off their website.

  • IshaqIshaq Member

    12.5MB/s is equal to 100Mbps (Mbit/s).

  • wilbowilbo Member

I guess it's just a bad connection between Kimsufi, Wholesale Internet and this server.

I though that was for kimsufi range only. Is it that slow for OVH range?
