@Mon5t3r: Eh, haven't really considered Malaysia, though I could probably get someone to drive me and check out a couple of datacenters there :P . Would still have to check on speed though. And I still live in Singapore.
Sorry to destroy your hope, but VPS in Malaysia won't be cheap as well. There are several companies that are active on WHT (e.g. Nocser, Zenclouds, etc), which you might find something in the range of $20-25, but again bandwidth is still an issue if you don't store the images elsewhere.
As far as DC is concerned, I've the impression that AIMS is quite popular.
In case you've got higher buddget, I think SL SG will be a great way to go. They are actually announcing their prefixes around their PoPs(even overseas one!) so Asia traffic is actually extremely fast. For me, no, my Hongkong PCCW 100Mbps VDSL broadband, it's actually faster than CacheFly which has a local PoP connected to HKIX.
