Perfect VPS for Joomla 1.7?

Hi all. Currently im a webspace reseller but it have to much restriction with phpexec and im not able to generate pdf files. Also the Performace / Speed with this apache configuration lames.

Im able to change to VPS with diffrent os templates like debian etc. I think Debian 6 would be the best choice.
Im be not sure if i should choice lighttp or nginx ?
Adittional i need a Host Controll Panel for Easy Setup the accounts. Which ist better ISPCONFIG or EHCP ?
Nowhere i saw preinstalled vdi (for Virtual Box) it have any reason for it?
Have sombody a small VPS ISO with all preinstalled?
