Centminmod. The developer is very active here.
Have a look here

Centmin Mod isn't installing SSL certificates yet? From LetsEncrypt?
Both are great, CentminMod for CentOS and EasyEngine for Debian/Ubuntu, not a hard choice.
Centmin Mod latest 123.09beta01's Letsencrypt SSL integration is in beta status for automated runs but can be safely used for manual runs - 2 guides added for such: for fresh nginx vhosts https://centminmod.com/letsencrypt-acmetool-https.html and for existing nginx vhosts https://centminmod.com/migrating-to-https.html
@ OP check the link I posted above, the Dev of CentminMod has given a thorough explanation.
CMM anyday, coz more active development and more secure (from experience of using both).
both is good, but i prefer EE on debian and if use centos i'll go with CMM.
and also waiting this project ready for production https://github.com/AnsiPress/AnsiPress

Letsencrypt SSL Certificates testing:
Added an official Centmin Mod guide for fresh Centmin Mod Nginx HTTP/2 based HTTPS vhost site creation with free Letsencrypt SSL certificates Using Centmin Mod acmetool.sh addon for Nginx HTTP/2 based HTTPS with free Letsencrypt SSL certificates.
AFAIK, EasyEngine's nginx version is now way out of date and it's custom compiled so simple apt-get won't update you now. There maybe a few security updated nginx versions since EE's nginx installed version. Folks might want to double check.
Centmin Mod Nginx uses latest 1.11 branch versions and constantly updated https://centminmod.com/nginx.html and allows end users to update nginx and php-fpm versions without my intervention via centmin.sh menu options 4 and 5 respectively. So you update as soon as you see new Nginx or PHP versions announced by developers. No need to wait for me to update Centmin Mod itself
New Nginx, PHP and MariaDB version update announcements are also posted in software subforums you can watch/subscribe to as well https://community.centminmod.com/categories/software-news.17/

@Eva2000 I'd created EE to support Ubuntu based works.
Now a days EE is lost focus and That's Why I'd created AnsiPress (https://github.com/AnsiPress/AnsiPress) to get latest NGINX package and Shared Hosting for Ubuntu based Distro
Installed CMM, looks great!
How can i install the Wordpress + Cache with SSL? I only see i can make virtualhosts now with the ./acmetool.sh issue http2.centminmod.com lived command.
might want to sign up for community forums https://community.centminmod.com/
but using 123.09beta01 enable letsencrypt as per https://centminmod.com/acmetool
ensure domain name has valid and propagated DNS A record pointing to the centmin mod server IP address
then just run centmin.sh menu option 22 to auto install wordpress https://centminmod.com/nginx-wordpress-installer.html at prompts answer yes to letsencrypt ssl setup question and select option 4 for issue live ssl cert + forced https as options
excerpt from centmin.sh menu option 22 for wordpress auto install with LETSENCRYPT_DETECT='y' set in persistent config file /etc/centminmod/custom_config.inc. Without LETSENCRYPT_DETECT='y', the addons/acemtool.sh script and letsencrypt related prompts are hidden from nginx vhost generators until beta testing is done.
You will also be prompted to choose one of 3 wp caching mechanisms keycdn cache enabler, redis cache at nginx level or wp super cache. As to which, a Centmin Mod user asked the question and my answer https://community.centminmod.com/posts/46242/
And if you need to manually bypass caching i.e. for benchmark testing etc https://community.centminmod.com/threads/wp-super-cache-keycdn-cache-enabler-redis-cache-user-agent-bypass-for-wordpress.5472/
yeah i remember you were attached to EE project

Apologies, as I've only recently begun learning about stack setup and coming over from EasyEngine (and looking for alternatives since 4.0 seems like it's going to be delayed even more)...curious as to why Fastcgi isn't an option?
All the literature I see online (reddit, Roots.io forums etc.) all seem to favor Fastcgi. I've only seen redis favored when you can implement a cluster of redis servers.
Sorry if this is super obvious but I'm still not clear on these options yet.
Also, just looking at your forums there seems to be a sticky post about using Fastcgi, Pagespeed, and Cloudflare, but later in the post you indicate that fastcgi currently does not work with Pagespeed?
stems from very early tests of fastcgi_cache having some issues on admin backend end due to caching - i listed manual fastcgi_cache setup on config page at https://centminmod.com/nginx_configure.html some are very old guides
The choices are from my experience in ensuring end users get least problematic setup out of the box - which is keycdn cache enabler config - easiest to config, maintain vs performance.
Now you mentioned Redis, I just whipped up my redis-generator.sh script to play with Redis standalone, replication and clustering configs for local testing at https://github.com/centminmod/centminmod-redis. So creating a Redis master/slave replication server config is just a matter of running
Examples
So possibility of scaling Redis server based caching for Centmin Mod based web app's that use Redis caching are real - i.e. right now I use Redis caching for Wordpress, Xenforo forums and Piwik Analytics for better performance
Yeah fastcgi_cache doesn't work with ngx_pagespeed out of box as ngx_pagespeed writes optimised assets with no-cache headers so fastcgi_cache is automatically bypassed.
Thanks for the explanation and links. My initial setup with the beta installer exceeded expectations.
With a 1 gig DO droplet (NY) on a fresh twentyseventen install I was getting 220-250ms from pingdom Dallas server (NY server was down)....That was the fastest I've seen with any stack setup.
For comparison my barebones twentyseventeen installs:
Serverpilot 1 gig was like 600-700 MS (NY to NY pingdom)
EasyEngine 1gig was like 370-420 (NY to NY)...
Centmin Mod 1 gig 220-250 from NY to Dallas...That's so fast I didn't think it was accurate , and thought that maybe Pingdom was being buggy since NY server was down anyway, but I tested it against some other sites I regularly test and their times were normal so....Seriously, impressed.
Unfortunately I didn't get much further as I did run into some problems with Redis and upgrading PHP.
I will move this conversation over to the forums, but after looking through them, I'm a little unsure where to post since there are so many different forums.
Should I post my issues on the Existing Beta thread? In the Wordpress Forum? Start a new thread in the Beta Forum?
Thanks!
Centmin Mod LEMP stack is developed for speed as I have an addiction to it
And out of box install isn't even the fastest, there's many optional settings and features in Centmin Mod 123.09beta01 that you can further enable that can easily squeeze out another 10-30% - check out the change log for ideas https://centminmod.com/changelog.html
If it's wordpress related can post at https://community.centminmod.com/forums/blogs-cms-usage.33/
Guess I need to switch to CentOS, just for CMM! :-)
Do not trash me, but how about ServerPilot.io ? I am using it on one of my dev project.
Love ServerPilot.
Having used all 3 at this point, I'd say the only thing ServerPilot stands out in is marketing.
Specifically, their marketing and ability to use sites like Reddit to raise their profile. They are easily the most visible and mentioned "stack installer" solution I see on Reddit and those Reddit topics/responses come up in a lot of Google Searches for common "newbie" stack questions.
However, for me ServerPilot just didn't make sense for a couple of reasons once I learned about EasyEngine....and that's ignoring that it's simply been a slower stack in every setup I've tested.
The free plan sounds great initially. But when you start getting into 10 bucks a month per server for SSL...It didn't really make more sense for my situation than simply going with a managed VPS that would potentially offer me more support.
As I was looking into learning how to setup my own SSL, I discovered EasyEngine.
If I was going to stay with the completely free offering, I figured that if I was going to do the research to setup my own SSL, I might as well just learn to use EasyEngine (which I'd say is even easier or at worst similar difficulty)...which from what I'd been learning was being touted as a faster/more modern stack anyway (and it is significantly faster).
ServerPilot's business model just seems like it depends on you not realizing how easy EasyEngine is to setup (vs. their free option) or how close in price managed VPS solutions are (vs SP's paid offering).
Currently, I don't have any super high traffic sites (highest is about 35k-40k visitors a month) and I dont have any ecommerce, and maybe EasyEngine has a lot more security issues than I realize. That is one criticism I've seen...though the posters never really point out what specifically...so maybe it's just fanboys or competitors trying to bad mouth?. I will say that I am a bit concerned about the lack of updates from EE.
At this point I'm probably going to focus on getting familiar with Centmin Mod and keeping track of the development of AnsiPress (both mentioned in this thread).
That said I have been using ServerPilot's sister company, Heatshield, and their free firewall offering for a really easy deployment of a firewall...Eventually, I will tackle learning more server security.
Keep in mind everything I'm saying comes from someone who's still relatively new to stack management with the end goal of setting up and running WordPress sites.
+1 for CentMinMod. Its the most wonderful and easy script you can use. Im starting to replace Virtualmin (all installs with Nginx) with CentMinMod thanks to his low load impact, support forum (great), possibility to change php and to compile it with a "few clicks" (to be honest almost the same amount of clicks in openlitespeed), performance, auto-install of csf and the time i save installing all this things manually (using CentminMod i can focus tuning things according my preferences).
@Gsitterly and @johnnymatt don't forgot the official site info and guides as well https://centminmod.com/ - read a page per day and guaranteed you'd learn something new every week ^_^
FYI, Centmin Mod code base is updated via git within native shell based centmin.sh menu option 23 https://centminmod.com/upgrade.html allowing you to update Centmin Mod code within each branch i.e. 123.08stable and 123.09beta01 or switch branches
Indeed, Centmin Mod needs more word of mouth though there's currently ~3,000 new installs per month
@eva2000 you have me spreading the word with friends and loving it
much appreciated
Just wrote a 5 step guide to learning more about Centmin Mod at https://community.centminmod.com/threads/guide-to-learning-more-about-centmin-mod.10838/. For new folks and old enjoy ^_^
Just wanted to say that I'm even more impressed with CentminMod than yesterday.
The amount of documentation was overwhelming at first. Maybe even to the detriment that it produced an eyes glazing over and missing some very well written, step-by-step solutions to problems I was having.
I'll just say, don't get freaked out with all the information available, just read like
@eva2000 said...
Part of it is also probably due to being used to how outdated and random the EasyEngine documentation is (some is official, most is other users finding solutions though)...I kind of grew used to the documentation being like that....
The CentminMod documentation is just so much more precisely written and gives so much more detail to every step of how/why xxx is being done. I have gained so much more understanding of Nginx Redis in the last day than probably the previous 3 months combined.
To reiterate, CentminMod site and forums are just absolutely full of great information.
Thanks @eva2000 I'll be spreading the word too
CentminMod is really great! One feature that may be useful for many users is multiple php versions (at same time).
