    Ah, this.. this is hard.

  • Depends what you're planning to use it for... I voted OVZ

OpenVZ, as long as i can get it done.

Sometime KVM due to OVZ limitation but mostly will go for OVZ

either OVZ or KVM, but I love my KVM machines.

  • Funny how almost all providers choose OVZ haha

I have come to like KVM a lot but I still like OVZ, it really all depends on the provider, regardless of how easy it is to setup, a really well configured node is still hard for some to achieve. I was always a fan of XEN simply because it was very stable and could be relied upon however I just feel that KVM is the way things are going.

Don't understand why nobody like Xen HVM

  • Ford vs Chevy discussion, if it gets the job done so be it

OpenVZ would top my list, KVM would be second.

OpenVZ is very easy to manage and offers easy visualization for the end user as well.

OpenVZ because it is cheap and yet still very effective, for low loads. For high loads (Esxi or Xen)

    @Spirit hehe done :)

It depends on what I want.
Small and cheap additional location for vpn/proxy/dns/crons: OpenVZ.
Big box with latest kernel: KVM.

  • Sometimes its nice to use those graphics cards in a virtual machine :)

KVM only because once they work nobody bitches about them.

OpenVZ I get no complaints about because they click a button / or they don't and it's already working. KVM they want me to install the OS for them most of the time.

I've never seen that one. I've always seen the complaints about "my torrents are slow" originating from the VZ one's tho.

Stability and a little bit more control is a nice benefit.

KVM for me. I've been burnt by OpenVZ too many times.

  • OpenVZ, when HP do it right.

From a provider's viewpoint, OVZ... From a user's perspective, I think KVM is winning the fight.

    OH YES ABSOLUTELY.

One of my major uses of VPS's is to expand my private relay network. OpenVZ doesn't support linux bridge.

    KVM for me.

    OVZ is for me.

  • OVZ and Xen PV

KVM seems absolute winner. It would be interesting to calculate how many hosts voted for certain virtualization type and how many users voted for certain virtualization type. Especially differences between Xen (seems mostly preferred by users?) and OpenVZ (seems mostly preferred by hosts?).

  • Why no VMWare/ESXi option?

  • Only KVM is true and well done virtualization

    cough Xen HVM cough
