Software Based Routing

Hello everyone,

I would like to know what the largest amount of MPPS you have been able to handle via a software based router and what setup/design was involved?

I have seen some old posts about DDOS attacks with Vyatta hitting around 1MPPS but the NIC seemed to be the issue.

There are also information about using Intel fast-‐path architecture, GPUs, etc.
www.vyatta.com/files/pdfs/vyatta_vplane_faq.pdf‎ (Not released yet, ETA next year)
http://shader.kaist.edu/packetshader/ (Still in development)

Thanks.
