Do you want automated backups? and why FTP and not SFTP?
I use Virtualmin on my backup servers. Just make a user, connect and upload.
yes, to use it as automated backups from my servers, and yes i can use SFTP
Perhaps backuppc
Which OS does your backup server runs on? if it is Ubuntu which has SSH, it probably has SFTP too. You don't have to install it separately.
If it doesn't, then you might install by:
sudo apt-get install vsftpd
I hope that's what you are asking.
Thanks, is a new server so i can install any OS.
i will test SFTP, thank you!
scp/sftp using your already running ssh.
Plenty of tutorials across the internet:
https://www.vultr.com/docs/setup-sftp-only-user-accounts-on-ubuntu-14 for example.
Good luck
Rsync your backups?
+1 for Virtualmin
It may be too much for just FTP, but I also occasionally put up compressed backups for download. So their basic Apache + FTP setup in one install is good for me.
