Please help me install FIVN (asterisk gui) on my VPS : I'm a linux noob

I'm a linux noob and just started getting into it with using ubuntu/zorin os. I have installed asterisk on a vps using instructions (cut and paste) from the web.

However, I am totally lost when it comes to installing the FIVN (GUI) http://www.fivn.com/products/asterisk.html as the author has given instructions but they down't work for me. The auythor says it will work with linux.

As I have installed askterisk for the 4th time (and will probably have to do it again, so it's no good if I let you install it for me) can someone give me step-by-step breakdown on what I need to cut and paste into centos 5 root prompt to get this working.

Might be an idea to say what doesn't work and what you have done. More likely to get help that way.

  • i have followed the instructions as the website, namely I cut and paste :-

This shows how to setup Asterisk Management for mini_httpd.
    cd /www
    wget asteriskGUI-2.x.zip
    unzip asteriskGUI-2.x.zip
    mkdir cgi-bin
    mv asterisk.sh cgi-bin
    chmod 755 cgi-bin/asterisk.sh
Set operation_system_variant="openwrt" in the asterisk.sh script
    Server URL: http://asterisk.server.com/asterisk.html

I get the package downloaded but then I get errors and it doesn't work

    move asterisk.sh to var/www/cgi-bin
    chmod as above
move other files to html directory
    set operation variant to "none"
set permission in files to 755

None of it works ....the other parts of the pages thrown up errors ...saying "Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?) "

got it working http.conf - enable -no
went to askterisk.conf and changed all the folder permissions for full rwx for everyone.

    seems to have done it
