    @netomx : no, its not running unixbench, installing dependencies, It is slow because its free tier - they have paid VM too

    But you're in Australia, so you're lucky that you have electricity and indoor plumbing.

    But a server online is a different matter, and 10Mbps sucks for something you actually pay for.

    How can they afford to run this?

  • udkudk Member

    Network is slow as balls, but hey, it's free.

    I'm wondering what the catch is though - are we your guinea pigs?

    Just report how long that takes, that'll do as a benchmark.

    It's a scam.

    @udk said: I'm wondering what the catch is though - are we your guinea pigs?

    We're victims. I already started getting probes on my router, spam on my email, calls on my phone and someone keeps knocking at my door.

  • @nutjob, It ll take real long, from past 15 mins installing stuff.

  • bcrlsnbcrlsn Member

    @nutjob - duh. I used fake details to sign up.

    Really? You so clever!

  • bcrlsnbcrlsn Member

    @nutjob - :P

  • nutjobnutjob Member

    Actually I used my real email address. I don't fear spam.

  • We've added 'stock' of 100 more free virtual servers. We'll accept orders again in the not too distant future.

    Accounts with totally bogus contact information may be removed.

    ...97 and counting.

    FYI, services may be extra slow now due to the number of new virtual servers being deployed.

    cpu MHz : 90.610

    My couch has a faster CPU

  • @udk Thanks. CPU speed has been increased by 3.33x. Hopefully now faster than your couch.

  • bcrlsnbcrlsn Member

    These "offers" always entertain me.

    Do you allow usage of VPS as private proxy? I'd like to use it for ssh tunnel, and you don't seem to disallow this in AUP, but anyways, I'd like to recheck.
    And, if someone is interested - here is results of freevps.us' bench.sh

    Does anyone else get a broken SSL error on ordering (Chrome)?

  • bcrlsnbcrlsn Member

    @DStrout - Yep.

  • VMVPSVMVPS Member

    @W1V_Lee I agree with you :)

    We are currently out of stock on this item so orders for it have been suspended until more stock is available. For further information, please contact us.

    If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is.
    I'll just sit this one out.
