Interestingly the box seemed to crash while I was doing something else a few minutes ago. I rebooted and it's back up now, but hmm.

I am already in dilemma whether to purchase it or not. You made it more difficult :-)

Thanks for the command output though.

which had me configure an initial root password and a user account with its own password. After the install finished I tried to ssh in as root but couldn't, because the default sshd config didn't allow password root login.

Why didn't you just logged in with the user and became root by typing

    su

    ??

  • lol i forgot i ordered one. let me check my account.

  • Falzo said: became root by typing su?

Hmm, maybe that would have worked (I've shut off the root password now so can't try). Mostly I didn't even remember that the user account existed until scratching my head for a while about the issue. I'm used to starting with just a root account. Thanks!

I don't know about that weird crash. Maybe I did something that caused it. I think the box had been up for 10 or 15 minutes at the time. It's now been up for almost an hour and hasn't dropped connection. I have to go offline soon but will check on it again later in the day.

  • Update: still working fine, ~ 11 hours uptime. No idea what happened earlier.

  • just wanted to order, but:

    Hu?
Why is the price for the item added to a higher annual price?!?
    That doesn't make any sense?!?

Change currency to USD, then ignore VAT (unless if you are from EU).

    Thanked by 1southy
  • price will be corrected after you filled in you whole address and such. VAT applies only to customers in EU without valid VAT-ID...

glad I decided to get a second one yesterday, who knows when the next promo will arrive ;-)

You have probably added the item twice to the cart. On the page before checkout, update the quantity to 1 and price will get adjusted accordingly.

I was following this thread and I did notice that the topic remained on front page for a very brief while after getting posted. Despite getting comments, it kept on sinking gradually. Pardon my ignorance but is that how offer threads work on LET? I mean is it what happens generally?

    yes it is :-)

offer threads wont get bumped to the top by replies to avoid abusive comments.
