What kind of control panel do you use?
SolusVM or what ?
it says:
Torrenting allowed? Nothing like it is stated in AUP. Private tracker or public trackers which of these are allowed.
Nice offer, What is your company formation date/year?
Those guys are amazing. I migrated to RootNerds when Inception Hosting stopped providing VPS in Germany, and I spent six happy months with them (Sept 13 - March 14).
Amazing support (even at 4AM German time), no downtime, fast HW. Go for it
The Sole Proprietorship was founded 03.2009 and changed to a corporate company 11/2011.
Thanks @iceTwy - appreciate your feedback!
As long as it's not against german laws (which apply, as described in our ToS) or it's explicitely forbidden in our ToS, it's not a problem.
I have a vps from Rootnerds, I can recommend it sincerelly! No downtime until now!
do you have a yearly discount?
We do not offer yearly payments. Maybe if the company turns three we'll do that. We know the interest for this is high.
I'm checking out various VPS's at the moment as a compliment too/replacement for my Linode server/external backup for data. I'm in Germany too (though my German isn't hot) and the low(er) ping is very appealing. I believe the packet loss below is something related to my ISP, I have a similar packet loss to my Linode atm
183 packets transmitted, 178 packets received, 2.7% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 28.618/35.130/178.124/18.080 ms
That said, I'm not sure about the switch from XEN to OpenVZ & the loss of my UK Proxy. (server rarely used for that, except for the odd BBC sport stream and getting non low violence versions of games from Steam )
Node Root15 is offline for several hours now. No Reaction from RootNerds, Tickets still unassigned after hours.
Looks like we've screwed up here @foetti @tarasis.
We've sent out an official statement about this downtime. Sorry again - we know this is a bad first impression for many of our new customers.
Ticket had not been answered for almost 4 hours. Question to move to another node had not been answered at all.
No need to apologise to me, I wasn't commenting on your service performance Just that I am/was interested in your service as I'm also in Germany & (potentially) looking for something cheaper than the $20+5 I pay to Linode every month.
Hello foetti,
we've answered your ticket as soon as it was possible. You were not the only customer affected and we've had to re-prioritize and answer everyone. Your question was simply missed and answered as soon as you asked it a second time.
I got one of the myVPS XXL deals on Sunday (well 2am Sunday morning). Its nice to be on a box which feels like its just upstairs and not a thousand+ KMs away.
The box itself is very snappy, though I've only done some testing thus far on it. (Including on Serverbear) I've had a little interaction with support and the livechat. In both cases the staff were very friendly & helpful. Speed, well it was about 5 hours between each email response which is fine (I wanted rDNS set for two IP addresses).
The server performance:
UnixBench score: 3414.7 I/O rate: 300.0 MB/second Bandwidth rate: 7.1 MB/second
root@de:~# wget freevps.us/downloads/bench.sh -O - -o /dev/null|bash CPU model : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4930K CPU @ 3.40GHz Number of cores : 4 CPU frequency : 3399.909 MHz Total amount of ram : 4096 MB Total amount of swap : 0 MB System uptime : 1 day, 10:50, Download speed from CacheFly: 11.1MB/s Download speed from Coloat, Atlanta GA: 2.41MB/s Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas, TX: 6.92MB/s Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 3.04MB/s Download speed from i3d.net, Rotterdam, NL: 10.5MB/s Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem, NL: 10.4MB/s Download speed from Softlayer, Singapore: 3.03MB/s Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle, WA: 4.84MB/s Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose, CA: 4.60MB/s Download speed from Softlayer, Washington, DC: 5.13MB/s I/O speed : 275 MB/s
So CPU frequency is not the 3.9GHz listed above or on the website and the download speeds are slower than I'm used to from Linode. (I/O speed there is 656MB/s, an 1GB XVMLab box in LA managed 871MB/s)
There are options, which you pay monthly for, when placing your order for improving the portspeed: Min. 100 Mbit 2,50 € & Min. 1000 Mbit 10,00 € + 5,00 € Setup Fee
You can also enable SSD-Caching for 1,50 € a month. (I passed on them while placing the order, and you can't it seems add them in the billing portal, it claims there are no available add-ons. I presume if I wanted them I need to email sales/support)
You can not manually set rDNS entries, you need to message support and get them to do it. A bit of a pain but its a one off thing.
Pro's for me:
Close to me (ping is 28-30ms)
Fast Machine & tons of ram for only €4.99 a month ($6.46)
Cons
Lowish bandwidth (fine for me I think, paltry compared to others claiming 2+TB)
Need support to do achieve something I should be able to do on the web interface.

Edit
I never thought to ask about what backup options they have. I guess at these prices its probably as cheap to get another VPS (given that Linode's backups are $5/m, and services such as Backupsy start at a minimum of $10/m). Just seems awfully wasteful resource wise.
