That script uses mirror.leaseweb.com which is a geo dns so the nearest mirror is used.

The leaseweb mirror is anycast (or does some DNS redirect, can't remember which) so it would be pulling from their Washington DC/VA location.

Would love to see the config that you used, though I guess it also depends on the DNS provider...

As of this morning I'm working on rolling out monit to swap DNS records (to DDOS protected IP) on a 5m TTL in the case of outages. Tested and working on one server thus far.

Google's public DNS servers (8.8.8.8) keep logs. Their CDN can infer domains from referrer tags if you load jQuery or Google API.

We are not disclosing the protection capacity in this location however it can handle amplified floods like DNS/NTP.
