Desired memory for low end VPSs
by slowservers ·I think virtual SMP (more than one vCPU) support will come eventually, just not sure when. Disk performance is a major issue on OpenBSD as well. It's usable, just not competitive. -
Sorry all your data is gone, have a nice day ^_^
by davide ·No exactly ahah I noticed that but a bit late. I'm restoring the data over an external backup anyway to avoid the risk of premature termination, they say 2/3 days max until termination but I'd rather -
Desired memory for low end VPSs
by avsisp ·The old hareware recycling is GREAT. I really love this idea and it's awesome. But -- if you offer plans with huge RAM and Disk, the CPU cores need to match up somehow to make it work. Otherwise, the -
Desired memory for low end VPSs
by slowservers ·This gives me multiples of 1GB of memory per 32GB of storage, which is certainly above average. I don't do the whole alacarte CPU/memory/disk -- it doesn't work well with small hosts. -

Sorry all your data is gone, have a nice day ^_^

by nullnothere ·Honestly, with 10Gbps (esp. "intra DC" mostly really fast), asking nicely (actually checking first) to keep the disk sizes the same, that dd should take <15m (I'm being conser -
Sorry all your data is gone, have a nice day ^_^
by davide ·Yes I agree with that, it will just sink some hours of time to do this migration manually on my side. If I could pay to have the disk image moved over by the staff I would prefer. -

by nullnothere ·I mean if it's only 35GB you can probably boot into a rescue environment (on both VMs) and do a dd across an SSH connection and write it directly to the new disk (of course size matters...). -

Sorry all your data is gone, have a nice day ^_^
by davide ·I'm thinking, this VPS has a small 2 GB disk partition containing a bootable Debian ISO image, I can boot off that and take a low-level copy of the VPS disk and dump it somewhere else over the network -
