Nothing is stopping them if they choose to follow the path of cPanel. Worse, if WPSquared or AccelerateWP becomes successful, then CloudLinux will have a model of per-website pricing.

Maybe getting a cheap cPanel from GoDaddy or even maybe something on the free tier from AWS/GCloud/Azure/DO/Akamai would be sufficient enough for a status page.

This is only FTP service. Just FTP and nothing more than FTP.
