You can only use Cloudflare for secondary DNS on paid enterprise plans: https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001356152-Configuring-Secondary-DNS . Not available on free, pro ($20/month)

Are you talking about Hetzner DNS? So I'll have to try it again for local projects in nl/de/pl etc. where those ns locations should suffice. I do can imagine that the Hetzner dev team fixed all or alm

But this topic is about secondary dns, isn't it?

I never used Hetzner for DNS, but I trust them to provide a great service. I am only concerned about privacy of DNS queries, since this company is in Germany.

Cloudflare free DNS

I have a pfsense box which has a Dynamic DNS Client running, it works fine until recently, in the logfile there is an error message:

+1 dns.he.net works, has been extremely reliable and is free.

dns.he.net

I use Cloudns as primary dns provider, and I was looking for a Secondary DNS provider to have complete DNS redundancy in case Cloudns goes down.

* Set up our proxies on several small VPSes (user gets redirected to one of the proxies randomly with round robin DNS) and each proxy uses nginx to get the file from the main server (I will keep both

For the average person, a cloudflare account starts with name servers and DNS, then turns into a lazy way to enable SSL on projects, etc and a false sense of security against mjj ddos attacks.

So I wasn't crazy in connecting a trail of other issues to it, the popular DNS resolvers were overloaded. Honestly I didn't suspect that, I forget just how many devices are pinging Facebook constantly

I am hesitating a bit if should upgrade to one much better server or mirror the content to another cheap server and have 2 mediocre servers serving files to users with some round-robin DNS.
