I never used Hetzner for DNS, but I trust them to provide a great service. I am only concerned about privacy of DNS queries, since this company is in Germany.

Cloudflare free DNS

I have a pfsense box which has a Dynamic DNS Client running, it works fine until recently, in the logfile there is an error message:

I use Cloudns as primary dns provider, and I was looking for a Secondary DNS provider to have complete DNS redundancy in case Cloudns goes down.

For the average person, a cloudflare account starts with name servers and DNS, then turns into a lazy way to enable SSL on projects, etc and a false sense of security against mjj ddos attacks.

So I wasn't crazy in connecting a trail of other issues to it, the popular DNS resolvers were overloaded. Honestly I didn't suspect that, I forget just how many devices are pinging Facebook constantly

I am hesitating a bit if should upgrade to one much better server or mirror the content to another cheap server and have 2 mediocre servers serving files to users with some round-robin DNS.
