Actually hetzner’s support is still better than most cheap host. The issue is they’ve gotten stuck in their own success. They’re not the disruptive hetzner we used to know.

Only alternative is create your own smtp relay and its easy but only for backup purpose i have some really clean ip vps that do this work

I think you guys should consider a lower volume 'Pro' plan as a limited deal, perhaps on annual billing to make it worthwhile for you. Would definitely get a few more hosts/hobbyists around these part
