I've never actually used SSH keys, sure I've set them up countless times but I prefer to just login via password. 64+ characters & 300+ bits of entropy so I should be fine, just more convenien

I usually do setup right away. Part of my setup is to disable SSH password authentication.

I also encountered that problem. For me picking the "hard reset" option in the VNC "slide in" menu did it.
