Perhaps you don't know many other exchanges including Kraken, Bittrex, HitBTC etc could manage to credit Bitcoin cash to all their customers on August 1 (the first launch day).

Bitcoin cash is basically a new cryptocurrency that shares its name with bitcoin (original). So a 4 month delay is to be expected, given that the currency just got started.

Sadly Coinbase will only be supporting bitcoin cash by January 1, 2018, assuming no additional risks emerge during that time.
