Correct Apple detects things a bit differently then other systems. They do not like users using non residential IPS to connect to some things.

The better argument is residential broadband. Every single customer cannot max their connections or use unlimited data 24/7, it's just physically impossible.

Benefit of VPS is fixed IP and faster upload to the Internet. You can't beat that with a residential Internet line.

Default business/residential v6 allocation is between a /56 and a /48, and some services online are banning/blocking IPs based on the /48 - so giving a bigger block to a VM/dedi/etc isn't the craziest
