For myself, with a dozen or so reverse proxies, when things need an update I use ansible. The playbook talks to my control panel API for the DNS, takes them out of rotation, waits, upgrades server 1,

Then create an A record pointing to the ip in the DNS zone.

* Checking each website, DNS, customer details, etc. If you are sure that customer is genuine then allow them. If you find many bogus websites then remove them one by one or in bulk.
