Looking for 2TB+ Storage VPS for image hosting / CDN origin

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a 2TB+ storage VPS to use as an image/attachment server for a forum.

The main server is at OVH HIL1 (Hillsboro, Oregon), and Cloudflare will be in front of the storage server.

Mainly looking for:

  • 2TB+ storage
  • Full root access
  • 2GB RAM minimum
  • 1Gbps port
  • 6TB+ monthly bandwidth
  • KVM preferred
  • US location preferred, especially West Coast
  • HDD is totally fine
  • RAID/ZFS preferred
  • SSD/NVMe boot or cache would be a nice bonus

It will only run Nginx + PHP-FPM for image attachments and X-Accel-Redirect, so I don't need much CPU.

Budget is around $10-20/month, but I can go a bit higher for a good offer.

I also have separate backups, so I'm mainly looking for good storage performance, stable network and decent price/TB.

If you're a provider, please include your location, storage setup and a looking glass / test IP if possible.

Monthly billing would be preferred at first so I can test the network and disk performance.

User recommendations are very welcome too.

Thanks!

They're the best I've found for storage that also comes with a fast CPU, too.

  • sometime, you should read other people's posts.

Do not add vps for this. Do take an S3 storage: for example cloudflare R2 $15/1TB/month, unlimited bw. backblaze B2 or others $7/tb/month, unlimited via CF workers.

they count by GB, so you can add more anytime you want, 2.5TB would be 2.5$7; 9.9Tb would be 9.9$7

VPS is likely cheaper by these numbers, but if money's no obstacle, indeed object storage can be convenient. Whether it's actually compatible with your forum software is another question.

Or this is just the setup that he wants or needs. He's not forced to go with obj storage, nor is it suitable for everything.

Be aware that they do charge a tiny amount per request with no spending cap, so not a great idea exposing it directly to the internet.

he is going for another vps just for storage. I am sure another subdomain for worker/b2/s3/r2 would be the same.

    @network said: tiny amount

it is very tiny, comparing to the storage. Not to mention on all other vps with limited bandwidth or so, fixed storage, upgrade by month, calculated by TB, difficult to upgrade...

For VPS, i dont think it can go lower than $7/TB/month. Only with dedicated, but then, you can not expand any time.
