Looking for a Cheapest Storage VPS - Any hidden gems?
I am in the market for a cheap storage VPS and wanted to see what kind of deals are available right now.To give you a baseline of what I am looking at,
I found a great deal on DeluxHost
- Specs: 3 vCore, 10 GB RAM, 50GB Primary disk, 5TB Storage, 1Gbit/s bandwidth for 11.99€ a month.
I really like this deal, but before that I want to see if anyone can go even under this price. My long term plan requires scaling all the way up to 20TB+ of storage, so Im looking for a provider that offers great pricing as I grow.
- Storage Type: Traditional HDD is perfectly fine. I do not need SSD or NVMe for the bulk storage.
- Network: 1 Gbit/s bandwidth minimum. ( unlimited )

heard many horror stories about deluxhost, careful with that
I've used Host-C before for storage. Can't recall ever having issues
I suggest mounting Mega S4 as a standard hard drive.
10TB = €19.99
horror stories indeed.
+1 for host-c. cheap fast and good storage cannot coexist fine. they have the perfect balance in my opinion.

not bad storage

Just one of the options (you didn't mention how much you need now):
You can ask the support to stack e.g. two of these VMs.
Also there are both bigger and smaller plans available (different number of cores, RAM, and disk size).
Hybrid packages (NVMe + HDD) are OOS at the moment (AI shortage), but should be back in the next while.
/ should you be ordering, turn off your VPN first /
Interesting idea with Mega S4! I hadn't thought of that approach. How does the performance hold up when mounted as a drive? Any latency issues compared to a regular VPS disk?
Actually went ahead and grabbed the Servarica plan! Still using it and so far so good. Thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah I've heard the same from people here on LowEndTalk too. Definitely not going for it then, I'm on a tight budget and can't afford to risk losing data or dealing with bad support!
do either of you know if they can scale to 20TB+ or allow stacking plans?
HOSTBRR storage box is good, but it's shared hosting instead of a vps. Max size on website is 20TB in reseller, 16TB for normal.
Imagine @labze can do bigger if you want
hostbrr anniversary deals with the storage add-on (1 euro per terabyte) are cheap and performant @labze
DO NOT GO WITH DELUXHOST!!!
I tried their storage vps and it's literally unusable. Sometimes, the HDD is so slow and such high latency that it times out when you try to mount it to the server. I had to go into rescue mode and edit fstab to remove it from my system to get my server to boot. And also, their support is pretty unhelpful and they take 3-7 days to respond. Instead, try either Servarica's hybrid vps if they are still in stock, or ask Novacloud hosting for a custom storage vps offer. I've had a great experience with both of these providers.
I know you want the cheapest storage, but sometimes it's worth spending just a couple extra bucks to get quality things.
I think it's bad luck. Ask them to move you to a less-populated server at DELUXHOST. Im using them and it's good in terms of NL downloads are fast. Servarica and Novacloud also great but costly.
Idk, sorry

I asked them a while back and they said this:
They basically told me to accept the speeds or gtfo
avoid like the plague
