Hi,

Currently, I am running a total of 33 VMs (Mostly Windows) on two servers

  1. Quad E5-4650v2 512GB Ram - Costing me $170/M
  2. AMD Ryzen 9 7950x 128GB Ram - Costing me $160/M
  3. IP address cost for each VM @1$ - Costing me $33

Now, the issue is that the first server is not performing well for Windows RDPs; they feel laggy, So I am thinking of switching to a new server.

What will be the best option for me under $400, which will give me enough RAM to perform well and scale my business?
**
Currently, my total RAM allocation is around 244GB so I need something in the budget to which I can also add some more 10-15 VMs.**

I need US location!

Thanks for the help <3

Kind of unrelated but where do you get the servers from? Those prices are pretty good

The best option is to get another 7950x since you have a $400 budget
2x nodes + IP will fit into your budget.

  • v2 E5s are pretty dated by now. You'd probably easily find some EPYC server at that price point, which likely offers a comparable amount of cores with noticeably better performance.

Totally agree. AMD Ryzen 9 7950x is a very good CPU. Just order another one and add more RAM per server.
