Looking for VPS to run Nextcloud for my family

I'm trying to set up my own cloud server for my family.
I have been fiddling a little with Nextcloud, but i'm unsure what kind of VPS I will be needing?
Right now I'm testing a KVM storage server at Alphavps, their support said it might work.
But at NexusBytes they don't recommend running Nextclooud on their storage VPS's
I would need between 1-2 tb of storage
Enough cpu and ram to run Nextcloud (primarily for photo sync and backup from phone and pc. And beeing able to access the photos from everywhere.)
Any ideas?

Slice, Slab
Francisco
You can try BuyVM 2GB RAM slice and the required storage slabs for this. Since it is for family use, 2GB RAM might suffice.
Edit: @Francisco beat me to it!
What’s up boss!
Thank you for checking us out . Block storage would be much better experience for next cloud setup. Specially if you are looking to run the full blown suite or relying on their web interface
If Helsinki is a suitable location our storage line up is here: https://console.vmspecialist.com/order/main/packages/order/?group_id=5
I probably wouldn't go below 1gb RAM for NextCloud - we manage a few NextCloud installs and they work fine. If you're going to be heavily using the web UI with the features like the calendars, etc, a bit more RAM would help - but for mainly mobile/desktop client sync 1gb works well.
Alternatively, Slice and Slab from Fran is a good choice.
I'm sorry I didn't specify my location. I'm in Europe, and would like the server to be hosted in Europe as well.
BuyVM's slabs are sold out in luxembourg, so i'm out of luck :-)
I actually also have a test setup running with a linode 8gb ram (high because the first 100$ where free) with 1tb of block storage at wasabi - I am getting way better transfer speeds and better web speeds with this setup.
I thought it would work faster with everything in the same place
Depending on the location, it would actually be a great setup. Since you have all the power and memory of a standard vm, while the bonus of proper storage .
If NL works for you, please drop me a note via pm. I might be able to do decent block storage deal
Hetzner offers Nextcloud hosting.
https://hetzner.de
I'm running NC on Contabo's VPS. Plenty of cpu/ram for price hard to beat...
I have been using
https://www.hetzner.com/storage/storage-share
since 2020-04-29 i dont have to worry about server software update or stuff. This is simply managed nextcloud hosting which they give you admin nextcloud with limited storage and unlimited user creation, you can add and remove nextcloud apps, plus you can upgrade and downgrade storage anytime without loosing data or reboot. I was managing my own nextcloud server, seafile server couple of years before i notice hetzner. Now i am happy with their service and i really suggest this stable solution. Only missing part is since it is managed by hetzner you cant use onlyoffice and collabora etc.
For VPS, Hetzner is the best option. For my personal needs, I have been using NextCloud on a Hetzner server with 1Tb of storage space. I spun up NextCloud on it using a control panel called CloudStick, where they have a one-click deployment tool that deploys NextCloud in few seconds. Here is the reference blog from CloudStick https://cloudstick.io/how-to-install-nextcloud-on-ubuntu/ which I have followed, Since it is managed by me, I may have complete privacy on your data. I have around 8 servers in Hetzner and I am completely happy with their service .
Hosthatch Storage Servers would be good.
Am using it for 2yrs.
My spec,
2GB Ram,
1 TB.
Yaeh, super fine 😊
@hosthatch pls ask Abdullah and their team
Careful here about the minimum policies and deletes. It can cost you 3 months of storing a file to delete the file. The min charge for any upload is 3 months of storing it.
You are not allowed to use more bandwidth than storage (you store 500GB you can only download 500GB)
@kamash Are you using their normal VPS with 1tb ssd storage? Because that is to expensive me.
@canors Their storage and share option could be a good choice for me, because it's easy :-)
@Jarry Are you using the high performance or the storage VPS?
The smallest server at php-friends with 1tb samba storage
@TjMacGyver I usually purchase servers from the Server action option - https://www.hetzner.com/sb that way, I get budget-friendly servers without server setup cost, then install or setup apps through CloudStick.
Instead of a VPS, it will be cheaper to go for a dedicated, seeing that you need 1TB storage... - See our available plans or you can request a quote for a custom plan. https://www.rhc-hosting.com
Thank you all for your input.
I am now setting up a storage and share at Hetzner. Which is only nextcloud, so I can't use it for anything else. But it was VERY easy :-) I started up with 500gb of storage for 6,13 euro pr month. Which I think is very reasonable. I'm uploading data to it now at almost 200Mbit/s Which is far better than the other setups I tried.
Check the Easter thread, Hosthatch released some offers (don't know if still in stock though):
Hello,
We can offer you our Cloud services in which you can configure your server with the desired parameters.

If you don't want to run your own VPS to get Nextcloud, you could try Novos Brick. It's just their name for Nextcloud. Just choose how much storage you want, cpu and ram is not your problem.
