Experiences with Chunkserve

Chunkserve has been responding to tickets again only after days, or they write ‘We are working on fixing the issue,’ but then they don’t do anything. Have you had similar experiences with them recently?

Mine is going down from time to time..Maybe a few times a month on average. Ticket receives a response fairly fast, within a day or two. It is ok for the price but I would not put anything serious on this machine.
Chunkserve is trash, its run by some kid. Many people are finding this out now.
I have two VPS servers with them. They are not the fastest support-wise but they do deliver after some time, and especially for the price and for a fixed usage, they have been nice.
One of the VPSes worked well enough from the beginning, the other took some patient back-and-forth because it got very slow, but got that sorted out to a very reasonable extent, and it's working nicely.
It's not a provider to demand answers in 24h, or to jump to conclusions when tickets aren't answered right away, but it does provide a usable service at a nice price and I'm happy with them.

Dear Community, Dear Anthony.
I informed you via TG that your subnet is being denounced, and I’ll provide you IPs from our ranges for free. This will be done today - as we’re waiting for the propagation as well. I am sorry that it took this long - organizing /27 subnet for you was a bit hard in “logistic terms”, as our IPs are assigned randomly from the pool - so there wasn’t a part of the block that could be split this way. I already sorted it out and will be assigned to the VM.
Regarding shutdowns/panel access - yesterday, around 23:30 CET, we reinstalled virtualizer instances on master and couple of slave servers. Previously, we experienced issues with automation (creating, reinstalling VPS services), or managing it (admin+enduser). Ie. For last weeks, on add_vps site and homepage of the admin panel, we received error 500 - without any further logs in the files. That also delayed multiple things as we were unable to perform certain actions. We’re looking for an alternative, as creation of our own ops managing layer got delayed, however it’s a bit hard at the moment to find satisfying solution. The other issue covers deploying servers on the wrong node - couple of times it caused overload of the hypervisor and we needed to move newly created VMs to different hosts.
On the node where we reinstalled everything, we can observe improved stability. Mentioned shutdown ie. By John should be mitigated. I’ll proceed with reinstalling couple of other slaves today. Regarding support tickets - as the virtualizer is nearly fully working now for us, all the pending actions on us will be resolved by EOD today (including your subnet).
Indeed, there were couple of unexpected crashes on the server. As I mentioned in my previous message, on node08 we will be also performing this activity, most likely today. No downtime is expected.
Dear Wojciech,
the problem is that our server on which we have installed AzuraCast keeps going offline constantly.
We have servers with the same specifications at other companies, where we have also installed the same radio automation software, and they run absolutely stable without any outages.
Therefore, I appreciate John’s comment confirming that we are not the only ones experiencing such issues.
Can you not fix the problem with these constant outages once and for all?
At the moment, the server is offline again.
Last year, you also announced several times that you wanted to offer servers in Poland. I find it very disappointing that nothing has happened in this regard so far.
There are countless companies offering hosting services in the Netherlands; in Poland, this is much rarer.
Agree also seems like they are allowing abuse alot of there IP's have hundreds of abuse reports and seeing alot of there IP's port scanning
We're resolving abuses promptly. We do not allow for anything that is illegal. Today, I suspended around 25 vms for port scanning.
Still thinking about some "pre-detection" system, but that needs real-time traffic analysis - doable, but still it's just an idea.
Give me abuseipdb link and I will laugh in your face.
If you're aware about ANYTHING new / ongoing, please hit us on our abuse email - [email protected]. YOu can also ontact us directly.
To be fair, it doesn't look like as214481 allows portscanning, just not always acts fast enough (as can be seen during Christmas and New Year)
@Chunkserve My server is again unreachable.
What site or tool are you using?
Screenshot is selfhosted kibana
Data collected from a honeypot?
TCP tarpits, this is not really a honeypot
When I first got a VPS from them, the network was down and there was no response to my ticket for around two weeks. I was getting close to asking for a refund, but ultimately they did respond to the ticket and switched me over to a different network, and the system has been working flawlessly ever since. I think the issue is just that it's a one-man show and he's swamped handling all the tickets himself. I don't think it's a matter of laziness or "not doing anything".
I'm extremely dissatisfied with the provider, as my server keeps going offline.
It's really frustrating.
It also seems like the support doesn't really have a solution.
Try their Poland servers with Ryzen cpu, not the NL location.
Slow or none existent support. Can’t rebuild a VPS I have a VPS stuck in a rebuild state for 2 months now
I have a vps with them in NL and it has been working fine for more then 2+ months. not sure about others but i guess it could be a faulty node? i didn't need to ask support but it has been running fine. I think it could be your ISP or something idk.
if you think Chunkserve is not suits your quality profile,
Huge overselling. Low performance. Bad YABS. Drama.
AVOID.
Problem is slow response time -
Ticket #TCG-969621 (Pending from 25 Days)
Ticket #SYY-014282 (Pending from 3 Days)
Ticket #FDI-145575 (Pending from 3 Days)
What drama?
And my Poland VPS is running just fine with 0% CPU steal and no downtime.
I got ticket replies in 24-30 hours. not fast but acceptable. vm is working fine though some bumps.
I've said before - feels like a one man shop and he seems a little overwhelmed. Super nice dude, willing to work to try to make things right, but I feel like there's just too much going on for them to keep everything stable. For the price, it's decent, but definitely some latency/connection issues from time to time - this is the last 24hours for mine:
Did my review before:
I can say that, while I kept my service active, on the first node, with an Intel E5 CPU, everything worked very well. Since I requested the upgrade of my machine to the latest nodes, something Wojciech did that pleased me was being able to do it without additional costs. I've started to have issues until that, unfortunately.
EDIT: Ok, some network issues had happened, but solved of course!
Ï bought LET VM Special - Xeon Gold NVMe Special 3 package from them, and it is painfulyl slow, cant even figure out what to use it for. After reinstall updating it takes literally hour or 2, even free vps from oracle outperforms it
