mod_evasive and mod_security with nginx as a proxy

Hello to all, I have a vps for hosting proposes and i use nginx as proxy to apache. I want to ask if it is useful or problematic to use mod_evasive and mod-security to apache with this setup. Any familiar (modules) for nginx? Thanks
