Can I attach a slab of 256gb ($1.25) to my vps of 512mb ($2.00) and then install owncloud on it and use it to receive files from other people?

i mean is the space usable for php applications? or is it for backup porpuses only?

it is mounted as a disk to your system, so you can do whatever you want with it

Yes, it's transparently attached as a block device

Hello @Francisco I used your service for some time last year and it was great.
Recently I purchased one of your slice in LV again, but the network performance wasn't as good as I remember, so I ran a bench.

We can adjust routes as needed. I pull a few of the China ISP's off GTT last night since supposedly it's going via Telia, let me know.

If you can ticket I can test with you :) I got another client I'm testing with to see which of my 3 providers is good during peak China times.

  • Is there an API to automatically set VPS snapshots?

@yanling said: Is there an API to automatically set VPS snapshots?

    No

@Franciso said: There's no API for it since then people would just script it and not pay for daily (backup) :P Making snapshots a manual thing is a compromise given we don't charge for them, no matter the size of the VM you're on.

  • @Francisco just placed an order! Says pending. How long does it take to get access to the VPS?

Depends, usually less than 24 hours, more if you manage to summon the Great Wall of Karen.

  • Hi @Francisco @alexvolk - any chance you'll have the 'SLICE 1024' instance size available in Luxembourg soon?

How do I get "floating IP addresses"? Also what is ECMP and how does it do load balancing? I tried reading about ECMP and got confused since I haven't really touched networking protocols like that for a very long time.

You can ticket and i'll give you a free IP that can be 'floated' between instances.

ECMP is 'equal cost multi path'. Basically each VPS that you want to take part in the balance will run BGP and talk to our route-server. You'll then 'announce' the floating IP to it.

Our router will then hash requests to the IP and do its best to spread the load out between them, while doing its best to point the same 'flow' to the same node.

There's no 'sticky sessions' though since this is load balancing at the network level, not like there's an haproxy instance infront.

EDIT - It's excellent for stateless things (DNS, basic CDN stuff, etc).

  • @Francisco There is not a single buyvm slice available for purchase. Congrats man! They sold fast.
