Hi ya Guys :)

I have been working on a Server Monitoring to submit on CodeCanyon but unfortunately it got rejected because this field was oversaturated in codecanyon. So because i code it and it toke some efforts for me to do it i dont want to go wasted.

So here is the script for everyone who want to have a simple Host monitor with Cronjob who sends an email each time the hsot is down depends on the port.

Source: https://github.com/sadiqevani/HostChecker

Well you also have some screenshots in there, also please tell me what do you think :) i would love opinions from programmers or even maybe new features that you would like to add as this now its a open source project.

Also a demo is here: http://www.sadiqevani.com/hostchecker/

Keep in mind that sometime you will see a SQL error in the demo, its not the script bug but its my host whose the configuration are to strict.

Well that is all. Let me know what you think about this script.

Thank you :)

What's special? There will not be a limit of 2 SATA3 ports anymore. Will this change the hosting game? Will be see RAID cards disappearing and more usage of software RAID in pure SSD setups? In the past, the SATA3 port limit seemed like a major limitation to performance.

On top of that, expect the usual power savings + performance increases.

Hello All,

This is my first thread here and I wanted to make it something usefull that people can utilize. I've noticed the DDoS threads and wanted to provide some advice to hopefully help some people out. I came up with this theory which probably isn't anything unique the other week when Sendgrid was being DDoSd and they couldn't get their mailservers up.

The idea is to basically register for a mail.live.com account with a custom domain e..g yourdomain.com as it only needs a DNS record to allow you to use their website. What you could theoretically do if you were DDoSd and need to communicate with customers is put the DNS entry in your DNS so that you can access your email addresses from mail.live.com.

I seriously doubt anyone could take down live.com with ease and it will mean you can still access your emails to keep customers updated and that kind of thing.

I use it for my own personal email for my name not business email and it is excellent and as mentioned free.

I will be posting more usefull content in the coming weeks and look forward to becoming part of the community.

Thanks,

ServerMania Dedicated Server Review

I will say that I have been using ServerMania now for my main server since March 1st and though it is only going on 1 month, I have been blown away by what I have found.

Number one is price, I have yet to find another provider who could match their price in terms of pure power (E3-1270v2, 32gigs ram, 1TB hdd) for 99.00! The price of their add-ons are fair priced also as I added a raid card for 30 a month and another 1TB for 10.00. Right now the price I pay per month is 139 with the 2 1TB hdds and raid card, hardware wise I find everything top of the line. I set the server into Xen virtual machines for personal projects and Raid-0 with the drives is running very well.

Edited to add: Based my order off of the 99.00 deal available here: http://www.servermania.com/lowendtalk-specials.htm

The only time I have needed support was to add extra hardware and to fix one thing. Upon setup the newly created IPMI user did not have the right permissions so I had to ask them to fix it, which they did very quickly and kept me updated that they were handling the ticket within minutes.

I have done some speed tests and east coast speeds are just awesome for about any needs and the hardware has been everything I needed.

Download speed from Linode, London, UK: 5.06MB/s
Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem, NL: 9.12MB/s

^ I am using Xen so some of the resources shown are off a bit (like ram).

I have to say the hard drives are NEAR new, so I cant complain either since I have had the server 506 hours.

[root@server linux]# smartctl -d sat+megaraid,5 -a /dev/sda | grep Power_On_Hours
    9 Power_On_Hours 0x0032 098 098 000 Old_age Always - 1634
  [root@server linux]# smartctl -d sat+megaraid,4 -a /dev/sda | grep Power_On_Hours
    9 Power_On_Hours 0x0032 099 099 000 Old_age Always - 881

If you are looking for a new provider and want a quote for something special then ask them. I know I see so many bad reviews out there for providers and I knew that with such a positive experience I needed to give something positive back for reviews.

I have dealt with many different server providers over the years and have seen a range of good and bad, both with sales and after sales. ServerMania is the first company I have actually felt were willing to help you and discuss anything with you no matter how many servers you were buying with them, every customer counted the same and that is refreshing. This is the first time I have seen a company shine in every single level of service from hardware, value, sales and support. I would love to hear if anyone else has experience with them also to add.

I have already talked to Chris about getting more servers because this is a company I want to expand with.

If you want to talk to them about prices or addons you can message @chriscm like I did, he got back to me pretty quick.

Ever since End of Reality made their move out of colocrossing, I have been getting pretty poor speeds, with frequent dropouts and disconnections (Tested side by side with BuyVM servers which are performing great, so it is no longer me, thanks @Francisco :) ). I have been looking for a provider that can match their pricing by quarter or by month and have the same limitations (Private VPN, private proxies, ZNC allowed).

The current plan I am on is at:
http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/end-of-reality-15quarter-2gb-openvz-vps-in-dallas-buffalo-chicago/
although idealy I wouldn't mid IPv6 support and maybe a bit more diskspace :)

Just got this email:

Subject: eoreality.net - Hardware Upgrades & IP Changes (MUST READ ENTIRELY)

Body:

Greetings Valued Customers!

We're writing to inform you of some exciting new changes coming to End of Reality and our performance hosting offerings!

We will be performing the following upgrades in the USA:

-100% New Hardware (All Game, Voice and VDS Servers will enjoy - E3-1270v2 @3.5ghz, 32gb DDR3 ECC with 100% SSD Storage!!!)
-Network Level DDoS Protection (A new networking infrastructure giving us the ability to mitigate attacks rapidly, and effectively.)

What these changes mean for you (READ ENTIRELY):

-Drastically increased I/O Disk Performance and CPU Speeds
For starters, we'll be upgrading every single peice of hardware we have to new state of the art, industry leading machines - including incredible performing processors and memory. NO system will run on anything lower than a 3.5Ghz processor and insanely fast DDR3 ECC memory. But we didn't want to stop there; every machine we host services on will now run on SSD based hard drives to add even more blazing fast speed and response times. We are also using this opportunity to extend and rebuild our back end productions to ensure a quicker and more responsive infrastructure that will provide nothing less than the fastest behind the scenes actions which no other company can provide.

-Advanced DDoS protection for all of your services
Our new network environment will allow us to rapidly mitigate attacks faster than ever, and sometimes you won't even feel an attack because they can be mitigated and absorbed by our network automatically! For large scale attacks we have 24/7 monitoring to provide almost instant mitigation from our tier 1 upstream network carriers.

-ALL IP's WILL BE CHANGED (READ BELOW)
All customers need to know that with these improvements will be some adverse affects that we know customers hate to hear, especially some that have been with us for awhile and have gone through previous migrations and upgrades. We will be moving to all new machines and because of that maintaining our existing IP addresses will be something we won't be able to do at all. We sincerly appologize as this is the biggest change that will be happening, however, we will be leaving all old servers online for an entire week to allow public servers, especially those on games that aren't BF3/MoHW that depend heavily on IP addresses to inform and update all of their regulars to the change in IP.

BF3 & MOHW Servers - These servers cannot be ran side by side as duplicates and thus we'll be moving them as they're empty. We will make our best effort to identify customers who have procon with us so that we may update their procon information. Please note as a BF3/MoHW server, you will not lose your listing in battlelog as it does not attach to your IP address at all but rather a unique ID that will be maintained when your server is moved. You will, however, need to update your entry in gametracker. Sadly we have no control over gametracker as it is a subsidiary of gameservers.com. We will also be providing updated DNS/IP addresses for all procon clients.

Voice Servers - Customers running voice servers will not see any change as most should already be using our DNS names (ex. chi.eoreality.net) which will be maintained. For those using the IP address, you will need to update your entries to the new IP's.

OpenVZ VPS Servers - For all of our clients running our OpenVZ VPS services, we will be creating a new VPS server for you within the new infrastructure for which you will recieve a new welcome email. There will be an overlap period of 1 week where you can migrate all of your data to your new VPS, and your old VPS will remain online. We can also perform this migration for you for a one time cost of $5 USD. Simply send in a support ticket at:https://billing.eoreality.net/ with your migration request.
Old VPS Panel: http://solusvm.eoreality.net:5353/
New VPS Panel: http://vps.eoreality.net:5353/

Conclusion:

We believe in nothing more than investing back in our products and services, thus we want all customers to know this is exactly what we're doing with change. In time hardware gets dated, companies expand and most of all we owe a debt to each and every customer to do our best in providing the mandatory needs to make not only our company better, faster and stronger, but also a drive for you, our customer's success!

We invite all customers that have any questions or concerns to send in a ticket with us and our staff will be more than happy to address each and every ticket as promptly as possible at: https://billing.eoreality.net/

We appreciate your time in taking to read this message and look forward to continuing in bringing you the best possible service and support!

Sincerely,

The EOR Team :)

Just to let you know, I am not part of End of reality, just a customer.

I've been looking at some discussions on here and saw someone mention an Xeon for under $40/mo so i was wondering if anyone here could do me this/similar deal:

RAM: At least 8GB (preferably DDR3
HDD: At least 250 GB SATA
CPU: Preferably Intel, Xeon? Quad Core?

Network Transfer: 100 Mbps unmetered or 1 Gbps with at least 10TB bandwidth with no overage charges.

Max Budget: $42.00 USD per month, no contracts.. Maybe a one-time fee of no more than $60 to get an extra 4 or 8 GB RAM.

It doesn't have to be a brand new server, but it should be reliable enough to run for a few years.

PS: Must be able to run a couple minecraft servers, mysql, php etc etc. Reformats/reloads must be free. Must not have a crappy network like VolumeDrive, BurstNet. Must have pretty good support, but i'm fine with unmanaged.

Hello all !

It's been a long time since I wanted to have my own physical server. I finally have some spare money, but sadly I don't know the exact hardware I will need to build the server up, specially when it comes to motherboards, and the server's case itself.

I am thinking about building a server with the following specs :

Intel Xeon E3-1230v2 or E3-1270v2
32GB of RAM
256GB SSD

What case should I use for that hardware? Is there anything else I should purchase besides the case/cpu/ram/drive? Do you have any specific models in mind? I heard Supermicro and Dell cases are the best.
Also, what is the average price for a server with these specs?

Any help will be appreciated !

at least 100 GB HDD.
Preferably at least 200 GB/Bandwidth a month.. on a 100 Mbps or better port

This must surely be possible someway, as i know it is at multiple budget providers in the US?

Hey guys,

I am not much of a server person but I do like to muck around with the occasional hobby idea. I have, up till now, been using OpenVZ servers with various providers and I was looking to get into some KVM servers. That being said, I really have no idea where to start looking. I was wondering if you guys could help me out by letting me know what are good specs for certain prices and any cheap providers where I can just play around with a KVM server for a while. I am not looking for anything serious, but anything in excess of 64 mb ram would be fine. Any tips about KVM management and similar topics would be really appreciated.

Hi,

I am trying to setup a home server which has 2 purposes.

Daily backup my 2 companies essential files.

Act as a file server for my own home usage. Storing files and probably streaming videos from this server if possible.

I am thinking to put a 8 port RAID card in this server. 4 SATA drives in RAID 10 for home usage, and 4 SATA drives in RAID 10 for business backup. The home section RAID 10 may be over kill but there are some valuable photos and videos of my child and family which I like to have a good protection for.

I am not sure if I should purchase real server specification components (CPU/RAM/Mother board/HDD) or put in a more budget kind of components. I want to keep the cost down but if it requires server grade then I will go for it.

Also, which RAID card do you guys suggest? I've been eyeing on adaptec and LSI.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
