As IRC noob (getting ZNC setup for the first time), what are advantages of irssi (with irssi-client if I understand it correct) over ZNC or shroudBNC?
IMO there's no reason to not run ZNC if you have a shell, you can use irssi with it if that's your preference.
It seemed to me like irssi could function as a bouncer too if you run it with screen. But I like my gui more I think on my mac
Nettalk.
EDIT: On Linux, through WINE.
I use Pidgin with a ZNC bouncer!

When i used to use IRC (years ago) i was using mostly ircII. BitchX was also popular, but my personal preference was ircII with my own scripts on top of it.
Don't you ever have the SSH timeout thingie?
Is it possible to connect with other clients to IRSSI (when it runs as a kinda server) or is it only used as client+bouncer?
