Evorack - New Operating Systems Available with plans from £2.49 per month

edited October 2011 in Offers

Hi Everyone,

Evorack is pleased to announce that as of today, we are able to offer NetBSD 5.1 on all of our VPS plans. While most providers out there only offer Linux, we feel that there is a small but significant market out there for NetBSD VPSes.

Also remember that our £3.50 off coupon code "LEB2011Autumn" (which makes plans start from as low as £2.49 per month) is still available: http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/evorack-2-49-128mb-xen-vps-in-uk-2/

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to post here or open a ticket at http://www.Evorack.com

Thanks,

Jonny

  • When, oh when... we can expect this long time ago announced vps control panel? :)

@Spirit: I rarely use their ‘special home made’ control panel as my vps has been up for 80+ day without any down time ... lol

    @Jonny_Evorack: very well done!

yaocheng so there already exist control panel which would allow OS reinstall, where would be able to see bandwidth usage, etc? It was announced long time ago but I didn't know that they did it finally. Can you confirm that?

@Spirit - Our new control panel is under heavy development. We haven't released it yet as it is a very big project, and we want to do it right. Evorack nodes have a very high uptime, and we don't want to affect these stats by providing a control panel that may have a few bugs.

However in the meantime, our support staff are able to reinstall VPSes quickly at no charge whatsoever :)

BTW, for those not with Evorack, we do currently have a control panel in production which allows Stopping, Starting as well as viewing the "Out of Band" console, so you don't need to contact us if you want your VPS rebooted :)

  • Hey @Jonny_Evorack, that's great news!

I wonder if you'd be willing to add "BSD" to your OS choice on http://www.Evorack.com/unmanaged-xen-vps.html

You could also ask to have the NetBSD logo listed on that page. See http://www.NetBSD.org/about/disclaimer.html#logo-usage for details.

And.. ;) You could also let the netbsd community know via [email protected] if you wished.

In any case, it's always nice to see more VPS providers adding NetBSD/*BSD images to their arsenal. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I'll no doubt have to take your service for a spin in the near future :)

  • Hey @horseomatic,

I'm really encouraged to see such enthusiasm from the community :)

I'll get the web crew to investigate the things that you mention

    Cheers

@Spirit: I think @Jonny_Evorack has already answered your questions. Although re-install OS can be easily done by submitting a ticket, I still agree with you that we do need some mechanism to monitor the bandwidth usage, which would be great to have. Other than that, I have no complain at all :-)

  • Hi Everyone,

Just to let everyone know that we are now offering Ubuntu 11.10 as well as CentOS 5.7

    Cheers

    Jonny

  • @Jonny_Evorack Do you have plans to offer FreeBSD/OpenBSD or it will be just NetBSD?

  • At the minute we're just offering NetBSD. We did some tests with FreeBSD a few months ago and results came back proving that the VPS was quite unstable. We will no doubt be re-doing these tests again soon with the latest version of FreeBSD to see if things are more stable :)

  • Linkie if you haven't seen it: http://wiki.freebsd.org/FreeBSD/Xen

Not the most full and complete linkie I ever seen. They talk about custom stuff and then don't link to it. :(
