Hello !
I thought I would do a review of Allsimple.net's Xen VPS offer that I purchased approximately 2 months ago.
First off I'll list the specifications 1 CPU Core (E5506 @ 2.13GHz) 128MB RAM / 256MB SWAP 4GB of HDD 100GB of Bandwidth @ 100mbit port speed 1 ipv4, 10 ipv6 (more ipv6 given free on request - native ipv6) Hosted at 4D Datacentres on the outskirts of London UK. ( http://bgp.he.net/AS31463 )
At the time of purchase 15 pounds per year worked out to $25 usd, so roughly $2 month.
I purchased this VPS with the intent to use it as an IRC vps to run irc bouncers and bots off of and to do the occasional proxy/VPN hookup to watch content that is restricted to UK IPs. It has worked out excellently for this purpose as the network and server is extremely stable. In the 2 months I have had it, the node I am on needed to be restarted once for a critical security update (which many other Xen providers also had to do.) -- other than this I have suffered no network or server downtime.
Network Speeds - My VPS usage really does not demand high network speeds. However, Allsimple performs well and a variety of UK testfiles (like cachefly) give me full 100mbit speeds (as well as other test files around Europe) - Speeds to US/Canadian test files are not as good (nor would I expect them to be) but still on par with other UK providers I have tested in the last few years (XenVZ,Vooservers,EDIS UK).
Disk Speeds - Generally pretty stable around 70-100MB/sec whenever I run the following test: dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync 16384+0 records in 16384+0 records out 1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 12.549 s, 85.6 MB/s
Control Panel - Allsimple uses a custom control panel that shows graphs of network, cpu and io utilization and offers RDNS for ipv4,ipv6 (rdns not automated though, but always done quickly) as well as the ability to reboot & re-image vps.
Support - Martin handles support quickly and is frequently active on IRC to handle questions, super nice guy :0
Final Thoughts - Allsimple.net seems great in every aspect for the price I am paying. Highly recommended LEB for UK/Europe.

Thanks for the review :)
Very tempting...
allsimple is great. but i got mine for more expensive that that. but worth it.
AllSimple are indeed great! I cannot recommend them enough!
Martin provides decent professional support
I believe you're from England, but if you're not then I'm going insane ;-)
What's the network like locally in England?
Indeed I am from England.
By network are you referring to my home connection?
Yeah, I've been having problems with other networks here either having continuous downtime issues or very high ping... So I'm looking for something solid with <40ms (preferably 30ms) to home connections.
Nothing. He can comment more precisely on what I could expect.
what's wrong if not from England?
@liam Here's the ping from my Virgin Media connection:
You can use 178.17.41.100 to test and there is also a downloadable file at http://ns1.allsimple.net/100mb.zip
Let me know if you have any questions.
I've never had any problems accessing them or noticed high pings.
This is from my work connection (10mbit DSL) - it's not the greatest connection but suffices
I'll update with my home connection (50mbit Cable) when I get home
My experience with Allsimple is similar as op described. One of those hosts where you can't go wrong with.
I appreciate all your help :-)
I'll buy one later when I'm not using public wifi ;)
I've had a VPS from Allsimple for few months and I must say I am very happy with it.
From same plan, IO is great:
