Live Chat

I'm testing out live chat softwares and I was wondering if anyone here uses any. I'd love to hear more about your experiences with various live chat softwares (from both an operator's and user's perspective). Currently trying out PureChat and I'm going to test out LiveChatInc in a few days. Any others you guys recommend I look at?

Primarily, this will be used for sales. Eventually, we'll consider doing technical support.

LiveChatInc was good, now it's still a good product, but they ditched their native Windows app (it's just a web browser to their site, now) and now their tech support sucks.
As such I no longer recommend it, especially because it's fairly pricy.
Honestly I'd recommend making your own, if you can. It's really not that hard, and you can base it on some Bootstrap-based one on CodeCanyon and it's much more customizable and cheaper in the long run.

My big thing is the apps. To me, that's the real win here. Plus, the pricing isn't a big deal. A few hundred dollars to generate what could potentially be tens-of-thousands a month in sales is a no-brainer.

Apps? Why you need apps? This is live chat we're talking about not Facebook :D

Sadly, I don't get to spend my entire day behind a computer. An app would allow me to increase my time spent in the live chat, without forcing me to stay at a computer all day.

LiveChatInc is nice but it costs a lot for something clients barely use.

    I've always liked http://www.phplivesupport.com

Strangely, I have never seen it used by anyone other than myself. The reports aren't bad, it has an intuitive staff interface, and it isn't half broken. It does include a Windows app and a website for operators.

This is going to be a sales thing, that I know will have the potential to drive lots of sales. Cost is no problem here. It's also not for active clients! :P

It's just not pretty enough. My thing with PureChat right now is that there's no desktop client, which is really annoying. If I close Chrome, I shutdown our live chat. I don't like that at all.

  • Zopim :)

  • This was a top seller on codecanyon for some time: http://codecanyon.net/item/php-chat-with-web-windows-clients-visitorchat/4575078?WT.ac=category_thumb&WT.z_author=ClientEngage

No idea if its worth a damn or not though.

I use a Mac! And it doesn't look like crud. Bleh. Of course.

But why use a hosted service when you are a hosting company?

  • Olark or SnapEngage, that's all that we have our clients using.

    LiveZilla works great for us.

    The obvious > http://www.livezilla.net/home/en/

Also check out Kayako, they had live chat software last time I used them. (Few years ago)

I hate Kayako. LiveZilla is ugly. I'm looking for something sleek and shmexy.

I'll check out SnapEngage. Wasn't to impressed with Olark.

    What about https://www.mylivechat.com/
We use them, with windows app.

  • jhjh Member

Olark is worth a look as well.

  • LiveChatInc is good, there is a plugin which also creates a closed ticket if a account exists to WHMCS too once chat has ended.

Free & Flexible & Open source - Live Support chat for your website.
It is also the best in my opinion.
http://livehelperchat.com/ you can edit it too >> open source

So use this also edit it, and it costs? nothing.

  • Your live chat looks nice, I had fun using it :)

Which one were you! :P I'm having a lot of fun with it, as well. It's really great to get to talk to potential clients and I'm pretty fond of the software. I'll probably be using PureChat for BoltVM, but not for DediCube.

One less thing to worry about.

  • Fair enough, also - http://www.f6s.com/zopim - $200 of ZopIm credit, which is enough for one agent for a year.

    zopim again :-)

  • We use "livechatinc.com" and its been good to us so far. Its kind of steep to add on extra users, but its a good product.
