Moving/cloning a Postfix/Dovecot mailserver with SPF & DKIM

I have to move my mailserver to a new box. It's running Postfix/Dovecot with SPF & DKIM set up. SPF is DNS side, so all I have to do is change the respective A & MX records pointing to the IP address of the new box. How about DKIM? Can I just copy (clone) the whole container and caboodle to the new box and be done? Or will I have to generate new DKIM signatures for each mail domain on the new box again to be valid?

  • You can use the same keys for DKIM on the new box. I'd just clone it or reinstall the services and copy the config files over.

  • @CharlesA: Thanks! That's what I thought, but wanted to be sure this can be done the easy way ;)

  • Yep. Better safe than sorry.
