When not using iCloud Webmail, I use Thunderbird.

pine. Now that it's no longer developed / supported - alpine.

  • Thunderbird seems does everything, I'd be interested to hear why something else is better? (every days a school day)

But why is it better than Thunderbird?

    I didn't say it was.

Either way, I find Thunderbird on OS X very clunky and unintuitive though. Too many strange settings, and I just don't like the way it handles Gmail integration.

If it works for you, great!

    Well that was the question

  • No reason not to use Thunderbird, works with Google Talk too. Even though it's by Mozilla it's not shit like Firefox.

  • Not something a lot would like to hear. I use Outlook via ActiveSync (Zarafa Open Source + Z Push). I get tasks, email, notes, calendar, and contacts pushed to my PC, tablets, and phone.

There is no substitute for Outlook anywhere - I hate it.

    Netscape 4 life.

  • Roundcube :)

  • Thunderbird. Used to use Evolution, but Thunderbird gets evolved faster and is in general more convenient. I admit its UI isn't that very attractive and understandable, but "others are still worse".

I also tried The Bat!, Pegasus mail.

Microsoft Outlook 2013. It's the industry standard and while it does have its annoyances there's nothing better.

  • Opera Mail used to be good, then Opera decided it would suicide bomb anything that was associated with their old rendering engine and put it out to pasture.

    Thunderbird and Postbox are nice.

I use Outlook 2013 on my work computer but other than that I don't have time for clients. Webmail all the way.

Google Apps for most of my domains and Roundcube for the rest.

    MailBird for Windows

    Sparrow for Mac

  • Webmail fans should check out Open-Xchange, I hear it's a PITA to set up, but works really well imo

  • The Bat

  • Seems like thunderbird is the way. I have postbox atm it's good but it's just missing a few things will try the bird tonight

    Forte Agent.

I tried using Thunderbird for awhile several years back, but it was so frustratingly slow in comparison, I couldn't stand it anymore.
