ChicagoVPS Review

@CVPS_Chris is a very active member here and after using his services for the past 24 hours I felt I'd write a review.

I bought a 2GB VPS for $7 I think this is probably the only one on the market for such a price.

But after a few hours I thought id change it into his Current LEB XEN Plan as I didn't really like vz anymore.

So I submitted a ticket.

Service changed to XEN Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 (20:47)

I felt this was a little slow however on his current LEB listing it says;

"Last night was an off night since I went to bed earlier than normal because of final MBA exams I had today.

The Plan I purchased was there; XEN Standard 512MB Guaranteed RAM 20GB Hard Disk Storage 1TB Data Transfer 1 IPv4 Address SolusVM/XEN $6.45/Month (Normally $9.95)

I didn't like the fact that it doesn't show you the plan details in WHMCS for example;

It Just has Prices and Plan name.

There are a lot of add-ons they let you purchase when ordering...

and Quite a big Template list image image

My VZ Plan was instant setup and easy to ssh in

[root@mybox ~]#  dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
16384+0 records in
16384+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 6.08435 seconds, 176 MB/s
[root@mybox ~]#

They allocate a nice 3 x 3392.472 MHz of an E3-1270

I also noticed i only got around 100mbit out of it I guess its 100mbps port on the node?

100%[======================================>] 104,857,600 11.2M/s   in 9.0s

However my XEN box...

IOPing is a little unstable.

I also Liked they had this in WHMCS which some providers don't provide

Graphs , Reboot , Console ect.

Instant R-DNS not available however there is a Knowledge base Article about it.

https://billing.chicagovps.net/knowledgebase/2/rDNS.html

I have yet to take advantage of there "Semi-managed" Support.

From my 26 hours with them It seems they are stable and they get a lot of stick for the 5-10 people they were on a dodgy node with them.

I'll update this at the end of the month :)
