  • Of course Dual Xeon 5150. Better benchmarks, and I always prefer Intel.

Is this just a fanboy thing of yours?

  • AMD Athlon II X4 630 3165 Introduction date Sep 16, 2009 95 Watt 45nm

    Intel Xeon 5150 @ 2.66GHz 1729 Introduction date Jun 26, 2006 65 Watt 65nm

    [Dual CPU] Intel Xeon 5150 @ 2.66GHz 3487 (About 300 points higher than X4 630)

So AMD may be better overall here.

  • Technically the Athlon x4 630 should be faster, introduced in 2009 - 45nm dye more L1 cache(faster) but less L2. Xeon 5150 phased out in 2009 lol, but it is server grade. If you go by passmark scores the Dual Xeon 5150 wins by a bit

Just curious, when you say dual intel xeon had 300 points better than AMD, i suppose it means Xeon intel is better than AMD? or im missing your point..

  • @Andy and @FluX, thanks for the feedback.

@duckeeyuck, whats your opinion on this then?

  • Are you purchasing or renting?
I'm pretty sure you could ask one of the hosts to trial it to benchmark for your needs.

Im renting. if u search thru the thread, you know which provider i am shortlisting based on the processor offered ha ha.. nothing secret btw.

You should shoot datashack an email and ask about their x6 1045T @ 30$ its great.

  • The Intel uses a ton more power. I'd go with the AMD. Can you upgrade the Intel to Xeon 5300 processors?

Though really, both are ancient. I have faster Intel systems sitting in my To-Sell pile.

Manufacturing date, power consumption, built on 45nm. But Xeon is made for Servers.

No big deal, it doesn't mean it will perform better on a server.

It's mostly unrelated, you see people saying "INTAL 4 EVAR DA B3AST" and will always go for their preferred brand regardless of performance.
